Strategies

Part of what makes the AOE series so enjoyable is one's ability to apply fundamentals, or known tactical strategies to various situations. In many cases, battlefield-proven strategies devised by great military leaders of history will apply to a given situation. In others, one is forced to improvise, or invent new strategies to suit the intricacies of AOE style gameplay. In either case, this site was created to record those battles won thru the application of a solid strategic plan, and to inspire the development of new strategies to complement the game.

Below is a list of strategies that have successfully been used to gain the upper hand in and/or win various matches. The format of each posting below is:

Anyone is welcome to submit original strategies. Postings may include play sketches, created using a standard Photoshop 5.5 template, screenshots, saved maps, and/or recorded games. When posting, you may use any name you like, although the use of one's Zone alias is preferred. Include any attachments in a single zip file. The forum moderator will embed any images into the text of your message when posting, and provide hyperlinks to download any recorded games or saved maps.

Be sure to read up on the fundamentals before going on.
